Der sogenannte Silver Dart soll bis zu 8 zahlende Kunden aufnehmen.

 Dabei wird der Gleiter durch einen Verbund von 10 Canadian Arrow-Raketen (Link), die einen Schub vo 700.000 lbs erzeugen, in den noch nicht näher definierten Orbit gebracht.

Der Canadian Arrow stellt das ursprüngliche Projekt durch das Planetspace (Link) entstand. Man nahm damit am XPrize teil.

Das dort erwähnte U.S. Air Force Flight Dynamics Laboratory-7 (FDL-7), auf dem der Silver Dart basieren soll, fand eine Umsetzung im X-24A/B.

Wenn man sieht wieviele Flüge man anstrebt und das mit der Konkurrenz(speziell Virgin Galactic) vergleicht, wird da wohl bald auch der Preis unter die erstmal angepeilt 200.000$, die im Rau stehen, fallen, damit man das ganze langfristig auslasten kann

ich wollte euch mal auf Canadian Arrow aufmerksam machen. Das Team unter der Leitung von Geofrey Sheerin hat am Ansari X-Prize teilgenommen. Es sollte mit der auf der V-2 basierenden Canadian Arrow 3 Menschen ein suborbitaler Raumflug ermöglicht werden.
Offenbar gibt es das Team noch.
Hat jemand`mal etwas neues von Canadian Arrow gehört?

Von dem Team hat man siet Jahren nix mehr gehört. Das Team dürfte nicht mehr existent sein.

It was only a few years ago now Canadian Arrow entered the X PRIZE race in an attempt to capture the prize. We started with only two plastic models and a set of blueprints drawn from years of research into the V-2 rocket. Das Konzept von Planet Space sieht doch recht vielversprechend aus. Das werde ich auf jeden Fall weiter verfolgen!

PlanetSpace plant dieses Jahr Tests mit unbemannten("quarter scale Silver Darts" (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV)). Ein Modell ist mit Strahltrieb- und eins mit Raketentriebwerk ausgerüstet.
