Das Buch erzählt die Geschichte von STS-1, der ersten Mission des Space Shuttle Columbia, mit Fokus auf die Schäden am Hitzeschild, die nach dem Start festgestellt wurden und dem Wettlauf gegen die Zeit, deren Ausmass festzustellen. Dabei musste die NASA unter anderem das NRO um Hilfe bitten, dessen Existenz damals noch streng geheim war.
Da ich den Autor, bzw. einige seiner Bücher schon kenne (u.a. Vulcan 607) habe ich das Buch gestern bedenkenlos bestellt. Die Bücher von White haben mich bisher immer überzeugt durch spannend erzählte Geschichten aufgrund von gründlichen Recherchen.
Da er in diesem Buch über einen Aspekt der Geschichte von STS-1 berichtet, der bisher wenig oder gar nicht bekannt war, bin ich schon sehr gespannt.
